The Ghost That Wanted Me Gone By Melanie G. Late August 2005 Sunnyside, Washington. August 2005 Sunnyside, Washington.
“This house is haunted”
"I had rented a room from a fellow co-worker when I arrived in Washington after leaving Georgia.
The sixth and final night of my stay, I woke from a dream with a startle and immediately felt such horror as I have never experienced in my life.
The very moment I awoke, the room itself felt as if it were physically saturated with hate, rage and fear. As I sat there, feeling the residual apprehension and terror the dream (I assumed at that instant) brought to me, I felt as if I should document the event.
I could not shake the dreadful feeling!
The light switch inside my bedroom (which was a portion of the attic, converted into a charming little room) was simply a string dangling from the ceiling. One had to get out of bed to turn the light on. Being afraid of the dark, I found this task most alarming. I managed to overcome my trepidation, left the bed and pulled the light cord.
Glorious light filled the room!
I gathered the notepad and pen from the nightstand and positioned myself on the bed. After a pause to get comfortable and place the notepad on my knee, I could hear the old button light switch outside my door in the stairwell being pressed on, then off, then on again. I was very familiar with this sound, and knew it could be nothing other than that antique light switch.
I was mulling over the meaning of this brooding event, listening to the distinctive sounds while I began to document my dream.
All the while that terrible feeling was escalating.
As I sat there with my glasses on and notepad balanced on one knee, I noticed from the corner of my eye a black silhouette figure standing next to the dresser, not 6 feet from me.
I knew at once these unmatched feelings of panic and fear did not come from my dream, but were coming from this entity. To make matters worse, it felt as if these feelings were intended for me PERSONALLY.
As soon as I turned to look squarely at it, it was gone.
Then to my dismay, the terror not only remained, it amplified.
I got dressed immediately and headed down stairs, feeling this Thing was right on my heels. I said aloud as I was trying desperately not to stumble down this 100 year old staircase “I’m going, I’m leaving” hoping my statements would comfort the spirit and persuade It to relent. It did not. I felt this presence directly behind me, chasing me it seemed, through the house all the way to the back door and out to my car.
Only then did it cease.
I returned later that day to gather my belongings. As I was leaving, I met my co-worker's son in the hallway. I asked him if he was turning the light switch on and off, thinking perhaps he needed something in the attic, which was just across from my bedroom door.
With a knowing stare the son said “Didn’t you know? This house is haunted. I have seen and heard some weird stuff”.
The home owner had shown me at one point during my stay two iron rods protruding six feet into the air on the outside of the house, over the front door.
They were put there when the house was built to ward off evil spirits.
I don’t think those iron rods are successful.
I moved in with another roommate that very day."
Thank you for your time today.
Sincerely,
