St. Augustine Schoolhouse
The above photo is of the St. Augustine Schoolhouse that is used for advertising. This building located in St. Augustine, Florida, is the oldest wooden schoolhouse in the United States. It first appeared on the tax records in 1716, but was constructed before then. It was originally a homestead for Juan Genoply, who later married and added an extra room.
The house became a school and the school master lived upstairs with his family, while the first floor was used as a classroom. Today the house is in a theme park type of atmosphere and is a popular tourist attraction.
The photo below was taken by Margaret Cowart in March of 2003, which shows a face in the upstairs window. Compare it to the top photo and feel free to zoom in on it if you wish.
